Changing seasons

Being disabled I cannot any longer walk my dogs, but what we can do is bundle them in the car and take them for a run or swim. We are lucky to live very close a lovely National Trust beauty spot called Plymbridge in Plymouth. There I get to see my dogs run and indulge in my other favourite hobby photography. I am just a snapper but I do love taking pictures.

This is the favourite part of the river for the dogs to swim. They both love it and it is hard to get them out of the water. My partner and I take a coffee with us and sit on a big old log

What I really love to see is the changing of the seasons and compare them in the photos. We were down there a month ago and the scenery was so different. Gone now are the golden and russet leaves, they just now form a colourful blanket on the ground.

The top photo I took the other day and the bottom one was taken of the same view at the beginning of the month. What a difference. Although I am not a great fan of the cold I do love this time of the year and I love the way the seasons dictate our food that we eat. Now we need warmth and sustenance to keep us going. Foods that normally are cooked in one big pot such as stews, curries and casseroles. Being a vegan there are so many foods we can cook that way. This week for the first time I made Katsu curry sauce, which I had with crispy tofu. There is really no comparison to the ones that I have bought. Please click on the link if you would like to give it a go.

My babies and they are brother and sister. Bear at the top who is 18 months old and Belle below who is nearly 3. They bring me so much joy into my life and definitely helps my mental health  My love for animals is the reason I am vegan and why I now write this blog today.

The bake of today signifies the start of the festive season in our house, that is the German Christmas bread stollen

This recipe is vegan only but I am working on a gluten-free version, I am sure I will crack it. Back to my last few photos before I curl up and watch some scandi drama which I love.

I hope you all can get out and enjoy a place that relieves the stress in our lives. These days we all lead such busy lives, we are like the hamster on its wheel. The silly season is just about upon us. Time to stop sometimes and just breathe and be thankful for what we have.

Have a great week

Karran xx
